In-School Choirs

Two New In-School Choirs Started Up In January, 2011

O.W. Holmes Elementary/Middle School in SW Detroit, truly a multi-cultural school, has joined the DCC in-school choir program.  This choir of 3rd – 8th graders is under the direction of Mrs. Carol Schoch.

We are VERY pleased to announce that DCC has returned to Carstens Elementary school and has started a 3rd & 4th grade choir under the direction of Mrs. Margaret Reese.

TWO in-school choirs are running at University Preparatory Academy Science & Math Middle School

UPA Science & Math has elected to have DCC provide BOTH a Male Chorus and a Girls’ Glee Club for the first time this year.  They are directed by Mrs. Lauri Hogle, who recently moved to Detroit from Atlanta, Georgia, where her middle school choir had achieved the distinction of being invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in May, 2010.

Coleman A Young Elementary Choir is now in its 3rd year under the direction of Mrs. Maggie Reese.

The Detroit Children’s Choir offers a choral music program to Detroit area schools for students in grades 3-8. The program is tailored to the needs of the individual school and proves to develop life skills while enriching core learning. Currently the Detroit Children’s Choir runs In-School Choirs at  Carstens Elementary on the East Side,  UPA Science & Math Middle School in the Northend, OW Holmes Elementary/Middle School in SW Detroit and Coleman A. Young Elementary in the Northwest.  For more information about how to get an In-School Choir at your school, please contact us!
