Neighborhood Choirs

Neighborhood choir programs bring the power and discipline of quality choral music education into the community as a vehicle to help children develop excellence in musicianship, self-confidence, social awareness and academic skills while setting the stage for continued active involvement in choral singing throughout their lives.  Choral students, beginning at age 8, who love to sing and are committed to learning are invited to register!  Students are provided a Kodály-inspired choral music education program, developing basic music literacy through fun and engaging activities, sight-singing, healthy vocal technique training, pitch accuracy and part singing skills.  Repertoire is varied and multicultural, including genres of classical, folk, world, spirituals, gospel and jazz.

Our Neighborhood Choirs are open to all students (ages 8 and up) throughout the state of Michigan. Rehearsals are held weekly for one hour, with a culminating performance of DCC's mass choir, annually held in the late spring.
